Est. 2008: Biotech Professionals Sharing Information and Networking

I've heard that starting a social network is like hosting a party. Plan for it, make it inviting, and entertain the guests while they're there so they'll enjoy themselves and stay. In starting this network, and then not doing much with it, I realize that I did the equivalent of just setting out a bowl of potato chips and leaving. I apologize! The world of a small business owner is not always predictable. In addition, we suffered a bit from the lack of a 'network effect' in the beginning because we didn't have many members. Now, we've got 50, w00t! (The BMG on LinkedIn is approaching 900!)

I started this group realizing that as a biotech marketer, there was no real community to rely on for advice for strategic or tactical marketing. I specialize in marketing to researchers, but I know 'biotechnology marketing' can mean anything from scientists to consumers, and I'd like to learn more about the different areas. The emergence of more translational research and health 2.0 initiatives means that we all should become more interdisciplinary. You have my pledge that I will try to be the consummate BMG host, and I encourage you all to strive to be the 'life of the party.' Write blog posts. Interact with others. Post or send me ideas for things we should be discussing.

So, I'm putting the needle to the record to start this party, so to speak....start dancing!
